Direct Support Professional
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in various settings, including in our facility and in the community. The DSP will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our participants by assisting them with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Teach participants daily living skills such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and safety in the community.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s specific needs and preferences.
- Support participants in social and recreational activities to encourage engagement and community involvement.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
- Provide physical assistance as needed, including heavy lifting when required for mobility support.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in training sessions for CPR and first aid to respond effectively in emergencies.
Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving, senior care, day program or home care is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with assisted living environments or group home settings is a plus.
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques that cater to dietary restrictions is beneficial.
- Understanding of care plans and the ability to follow them accurately is essential.
- A commitment to providing compassionate support while respecting the dignity of all clients is required.
